Stage 01

Diagnose

Before any treatment, we find what’s actually driving the problem — using SFMA movement screening (and TPI’s 16-point screen for golfers) to trace pain back to its source, which is often nowhere near where it hurts.

Stage 02

Repair

Full Body ART® and hands-on soft tissue work release the adhesions and restricted tissue causing pain and limiting motion, alongside sports chiropractic adjustment where indicated.

Most patients see measurable change within 3–5 sessions.

Stage 03

Reconnect

Releasing tissue doesn’t fix a bad movement pattern by itself — the brain has to relearn the correct one. This stage is conscious, effortful movement correction: you’re actively thinking about how you move.

Starts alongside Repair. The pattern typically sharpens over 2–4 weeks of consistent reinforcement.

Stage 04

Automate

The corrected pattern stops requiring conscious effort and becomes reflexive — it holds up under real-world distraction and fatigue, not just in a controlled exercise.

Strength and endurance are trained together here — but they don’t come from the same source, and they don’t arrive on the same schedule.

Weeks 1–4 — Neural Phase

Early strength gains come almost entirely from the nervous system getting better at recruiting the muscle you already have. You’ll feel noticeably stronger before you look or measure any different — this is real, but it’s not new muscle yet.

Weeks 6–8 — Tissue Phase

This is when actual muscle growth becomes measurable, and strength gains become more durable rather than just neurological. This is the window most people mean when they say “6–8 weeks to build strength” — it’s accurate, just incomplete without the first phase.

🔬 Backed by Research Foundational strength-training studies have shown that early gains in the first several weeks of resistance training are driven primarily by neural adaptation, with measurable muscle fiber growth not appearing until roughly six weeks of consistent training.

Feeling Strong Isn’t the Same as Being Ready

Here’s what most return-to-sport timelines leave out: muscle and tendon adapt on completely different clocks. In one controlled study, eight weeks of resistance training was enough to produce a measurable change in quad muscle stiffness — but the patellar tendon attached to it showed no significant change in the same window.

Tendon and connective tissue remodel slower than muscle because collagen turnover is inherently slower than muscle protein turnover. Meaningful tendon adaptation continues for 3–6 months of progressive loading, and full structural remodeling can take considerably longer. This is exactly why we don’t clear someone for full speed and power work just because their strength numbers look good — the tissue transmitting that force needs its own runway.

Stage 06

Perform

Speed, agility, and sport-specific power — golf swing speed included — are layered on only once the movement is automatic and the tissue has had its own adaptation window, not just once strength numbers look good.

Timeline

Begins as early as week 4–6 in low-load, high-skill forms; full-intensity return typically follows continued progressive loading over the following months, guided by tissue readiness — not a fixed calendar date.
