Every golfer gets told to “stretch more.” Almost nobody gets told what to stretch, or why.

You feel it on the back nine — the swing gets shorter, the low back tightens, the same miss shows up again. A lesson fixes the positions you can reach. It cannot fix the positions your body will not give you.

The Golf Performance Assessment at Kinetix finds the physical restrictions behind your swing faults, tests how much force you can actually produce, and hands you a written plan you can train from — on your own, with us, or inside a coached program.

Most golf screens stop at Level 1. This one does not.

Nearly every “TPI certified” provider in Austin holds a Level 1 credential. Level 1 is an introduction — a movement screen and a category. Dr. Matt Centofonti is certified at TPI Level 2 in both Medical and Fitness, and that combination is what changes the assessment:

Standard Level 1 screen Kinetix — TPI Level 2 Medical + Fitness
Movement screen Yes Yes — full screen, each failed test broken down to its cause
Tells you why a test failed Not usually — a restriction, a stiff joint and an old injury all look the same Yes — assessed by a medical provider who can differentiate joint, tissue and motor control
Baseline strength testing No Yes — we measure force production, not just flexibility
Can treat what it finds Referral out Same building, same provider — Full Body ART and Adhesion Release Therapy
You leave with A category and some stretches A written swing-limiter report and a prioritized plan

Flexibility without strength is instability. Strength without mobility is a compensation waiting to happen. Screening both is the only way to know which one is costing you distance.

What happens in your assessment

1. Interview and golf history

Your handicap, how often you play, what hurts, what your coach has been trying to change, and what you actually want — more distance, less pain, or eighteen holes without fading.

2. Full TPI movement assessment

The screen every TPI provider runs — pelvic tilt and rotation, torso rotation, hip mobility, shoulder mobility, single-leg balance, overhead deep squat and more. The difference is what happens when a test fails: it gets taken apart until we know whether it is a joint, the soft tissue, or motor control.

3. Baseline strength testing

Objective numbers for the positions that matter in a golf swing — hip hinge, rotation, grip and lower-body drive. These become your baseline, so progress is a number you can see rather than a feeling you hope for.

4. Swing-limiter report and plan

Your findings tied to the swing characteristics they produce — early extension, loss of posture, casting, sway and slide — with the two or three limiters worth fixing first, and a corrective plan matched to them. Bring it to your swing coach; the two of us are working on the same problem from different ends.

Who this is for

  • Golfers whose low back, hip, elbow or shoulder complains during or after a round
  • Golfers who have hit a distance ceiling that lessons have not moved
  • Golfers coming back from an injury who want to know what is safe to load
  • Competitive juniors and college players who need a baseline before a season
  • Golfers who simply want to know what their body is actually doing

You do not need pain to book. Roughly half of these assessments are performance-driven.

After the assessment — three ways forward

Treat it here

If the limiter is tissue or joint restriction, we treat it in the clinic. Dr. Centofonti is the only Full Body ART certified provider in West Austin, and also uses Adhesion Release Therapy — both aimed at restoring range you can then train.

Train it with a coach

In-person golf performance sessions built on your assessment findings, in Spicewood.

Train it on your own

Prefer to work at your own pace? Kinetix Golf Performance delivers self-guided golf strength and mobility programming to your phone, built from the same TPI framework as your report.

Do you treat during the assessment?

If we find something clear and treating it is appropriate, yes, we can start the same visit.

What should I wear?

What does it cost?

Assessment pricing is quoted when you book — call the clinic or ask at the front desk and we will walk you through it, including how it fits with follow-up care or coaching.

Where are you?

5324 Reimers-Peacock Rd, Suite B, Spicewood, TX 78669 — minutes from Lakeway, Bee Cave, Briarcliff and the Lake Travis courses.
